To me i see class struggling today more then it use to because today class struggles today by who ever has access to information, who ever has the better technology, who has a better phone, or car, or who has more people on Facebook. But seriously if you dont have a cell phone then your part of the morns in todays society. When back in the day it was who has more about money, and servants. Today its if u have a connection or access to internet or information then you a better chance of getting a better job or be noticed. For example people get so famous for posting things on Youtube and make money off of blogs people read or having a reality show they can make a living off of living but having people watch it. If you have the most people on facebook then your the coolest person if you don't then your not. so its not so much about money today its more about technology and connection or access to information because you could do so much with information or technology now a days.
I gave up on keeping up with everyone aroud me. I gave up a long time ago. I just did not see a point to that. I am who I am. It doesn't matter what I drive, where I live, what I have, in the end it really matters who I am. Am I a good person? Can people count on me? Do I have time to spend with my daughter, my husband, my family? Am I making sure my pets are happy? Do I check on a sick friend or neighbor? I guess that also comes with age as well.
ReplyDeleteBut when it comes to struggles between classes, I also think that they still exist. The classes divide us. The wealthy, the middle class, the poor. We are all affraid not loose our position, and we want to get ahead. No one wants to suffer, no one wants to be worse than the next person.
The classes are more visible when the economy gets bad. The poor get poorer, the middle class struggles more, and the wealthy even, as by example of Bernie Madoff have their problems. Everyone tries to stay on top of their own problems. The poor blame the rich, and everyone blames the government. The division of classes exists, it may be harded today to categorize people and put them in a specific class without knowing a lot more about them, but the struggles between classes exist. It is not what it used to be during Industrial Revolution, or even during the lifetime of Moll Flanders, but the struggle goes on on a smaller scale.
